We wish to acknowledge Mrs. Wolosoff, an extraordinary teacher who has made a significant impact on our daughter. Mrs. Wolosoff is not your ordinary teacher. She beats to her own drum as her students find themselves engaged in out of the ordinary learning experiences from day one. Students often express interest in a particular area with Mrs. Wolosoff standing in the wings to nurture plans and ideas. These ideas become a springboard for many worthwhile learning experiences in the weeks that follow. Concepts are always reinforced through hands on activities. The end result is students who have learned early on the importance of being a lifelong learner.
This year our daughter has learned that the end product is not as important as the process, or as she tells me "the way you got there mom." Working through the thought process and being able to explain how you arrived at your answer has allowed our daughter to recognize her own strengths and weaknesses as a learner. Mrs. Wolosoff has modeled following your natural curiosity, and acting on it through exploration and study.
Mrs. Wolosoff is creative in how she chooses to meet her objectives. Math is always "real life math." Activities done at home to reinforce skills are thought provoking and interesting. This keeps children excited about learning. Writing is approached so that motivation comes first and creativity follows. We are truly amazed at the poetry our daughter has written. We credit Mrs. Wolosoff for giving our daughter the tools needed to become a competent writer and the enthusiasm to produce a creative end product.
Mrs. Wolosoff has done some extraordinary projects with her students. She wisely chooses projects that allow children to help others. She always looks to expand children beyond the four walls of their classroom. Her efforts are all around the school building; painted on murals, in newspaper articles, and always on the minds of her students.
Mrs. Wolosoff allows parents the opportunity to become involved in all the excitement. Parent interaction is always balanced and appropriate. This is a true indicator of her professionalism and dedication to her students. These days, we find our daughter at her desk working through a math problem or going "the extra mile" because her teacher motivated her to continue on with an interesting assignment. This is the essence of good teaching. Our family appreciates the opportunity to get to know Mrs. Wolosoff. In many ways we have all benefited from this rich experience.
Respectfully,
The L Family
