Bio - Dr. Rachelle Wolosoff

Dr. Rachelle Wolosoff began to think about making a difference in children's lives more than a decade ago. Her passion for learning and her love of teaching led her to a career in education. Rachelle obtained a doctorate in educational leadership. Her dissertation focused on case studies of leaders of technologically innovative schools. She traveled across the country to explore the leaders of such schools.

Rachelle has been recognized as a master teacher. She was awarded Math Teacher of the Year and was one of only a handful of elementary and secondary school teachers in Long Island, New York who achieved National Board Certification in 2003. Dr. Wolosoff was the first teacher in the history of her school district to earn the profession's top honor.

Rachelle loves to learn. She is passionately curious within a large range of areas. In fact her excitement for learning has been said to be contagious.

She has taught students majoring in education at the university level in addition to elementary level children. She has been a presenter at various workshops and universities including the New York State Association for Computers and Technologies in Education and the University Council for Educational Administration. She has developed workshops for teachers and parents in various areas of education.

Additionally, Dr. Wolosoff has been published in professional journals and featured in metropolitan area newspapers regarding her views and work in education. She has been nominated for the Disney Teacher of the Year Award. In her quest to continually learn she has studied at the Harvard Graduate School of Education in the Change Leadership Group.

Rachelle is always trying to learn new and better strategies to facilitate learning. In this effort, she is constantly visiting and observing many schools and instructional settings, at all levels, both traditional and non-traditional. This has allowed her to develop a philosophy of teaching and learning that encompasses a wide range of best practice.

Prior to finding her passion for education, Rachelle Wolosoff was a certified public accountant. She worked for one of the world's largest accounting firms and was very successful as a senior tax manager. Rachelle is a consultant with one of the world's largest professional service firms (100,000+ employees) assisting with the professional learning of their executives. This gives Rachelle the firsthand ability to understand the connection between education and business and the need for education to be meaningful for learners.
